A single Stores.com app shipped as an update to the MorningSave install base. One fixed tab bar — Home · Deals · Cart · Account — over a real store registry: six classics and 125 outlet stores minted from live catalog data, each a storefront with its own theme and its own place in My Stores, and 126 of them with a real catalog behind the door.

Stores are stores — one registry generated from production data (tools/build-stores-index.js): classics and outlet stores share one record shape and one render path; entering a classic keeps the signature wipe, and the tab bar never re-themes. And one noun everywhere: the six house stores are the Classics — in the code, the registry, and the UI alike; the old internal name is retired.
You are always AT a store — Home is your current store, and the app boots into it: last-visited store, then your pinned My Store, then first-run setup. Every store wears its brand color as a full-bleed header — logo left, switcher right, section pills and the ☆ add button on the page below — and every outlet carries one line of identity, Official outlet store · operated by Stores.com, at the top of its store page and on its row in the switcher.
A store's theme is data, not code — every color in every store comes from that store's production siteContext light scheme: primary, on-primary, secondary, on-secondary, surface, on-surface, plus its two typefaces. Six values in, every slot out — header, price, chips, pills, buttons, badges, cards, the transition wipe — by one formula per derived role, applied identically to all 131 stores. There is no per-store styling anywhere in the app. The stores with no siteContext record (Big Lots and the 125 outlets) derive the same six from a single documented rule, so a new store is themed the moment its record exists, with zero code. Stores.com's own chrome — Discover, Deals, Cart, Account and the tab bar — is the platform, not a store, and keeps its own palette on purpose.
The section pills are an honest table of contents — a store shows Events only if it runs events and Market only if its Market pool isn't empty, so Commodore Outlet keeps Home alone and no pill ever leads somewhere empty.
The Market is the store's whole shelf — every offer still in stock, event stock included, windowed 24 cards at a time instead of stopping at ten, across Best Sellers · New Arrivals · Clearance — Best Sellers by units moved, Clearance by real discount depth.
First run IS discovery — setup isn't a separate picker page: the Discover surface opens in setup mode (onboarding hero, every ☆ live, no tab bar until you finish). The empty My Stores rail holds five outlined slots, so your first store fills a slot in place; the sticky CTA reads Pick your first outlet store until you add one, then Get started — "You can add more outlet stores anytime" — and wipes you into your landing store. Setup is seedable by install attribution — try ?fresh=1&src=morningsave · ?fresh=1&src=meh · ?fresh=1&src=cuisinart-outlet: the referring store arrives pre-added, pinned, and lands first. (Your choices persist across reloads; ?fresh=1 — or Account › Start over — reboots as a first-time visitor.)
?src= stands in for the real signals — Google Play Install Referrer on Android; deferred deep links on iOS via an attribution SDK or an App Clip handoff; the MorningSave-app-update cohort is deterministic (same bundle, prior state carries over); and account order history is the server-side backstop that seeds every signed-in user. A seeded install says so out loud — "FROM YOUR LINK · We added {store} — that's where you found us" — and the grammar is wider than the three links above: a registry slug, a legacy key (ms, sd, biglots), or a storefront or brand domain (morningsave.com, cuisinart.com).
Discovery is a destination — and it's an OUTLET destination — the Outlets tab and the switcher's Find-more row both open Discover outlet stores: the department-store directory at night. Deep navy with faint grain; brand islands in each store's own kit, every island wearing a strip of exactly three verified product cutouts standing on the brand ground. The masthead states the bet — 125 outlet stores. One app. — and the page ends on it too, with a full-height end-cap back into Browse all.
ONE discovery page, outlet-led — first-run setup and Find more stores are the same page, in this order: the Stores.com masthead, your My Outlet Stores rail, the store that just opened, three featured outlet stores straight from the brand, four category shelves, three curated outlet collections (Essentials · Staff Picks · Trending — flood-color cards with drifting product cutouts, a member facepile, and Add all with the count in the button), Browse by category, Browse all outlet stores A–Z, and only then the Classics — three islands plus More Classics with one-tap Add all classics — before the outlet end-cap signs the page off. Only the chrome differs — setup swaps the tab bar for the sticky CTA.
Search exists only where searching means something — the header input is there in setup, on Discover, inside a store, and on the Deals tab — not in the cart, checkout or Account: it's the store finder in the first two, that store's own shelf in the third, and every store's deals on the fourth, which is where a store's dashed “search every store instead” row lands you.
Real catalogs — all the way down — 126 stores render their own: five classics (Big Lots is the one store with no catalog behind it) and 121 of the 125 outlets — 3,953 offers across 435 events, every one with real photos and features, and 3,107 of them with the store's own write-up (the rest say so rather than invent one). The spec table is the app's. Outlet slates are curated out of the MorningSave, SideDeal and Meh archives under a strict single-brand rule, and every store home splits what's open now from what just ended and what opens next. Four outlets — Commodore, 7 Days, Blue Jean Chef and Orly — have no single-brand history at all, so they open with nothing: an empty store beats an invented one. Data files are lazy: the eager registry stays 120 KB, an outlet catalog averages 43 KB, and nothing loads until you walk in.
Deals are deals, and they have their own brand — the Deals tab swaps the Stores.com wordmark for the Stores.com Deals lockup and carries its own deal-tag glyph in the tab bar. It leads with the pinned Deal of the Day, then the membership strip, then store chips — 15 stores plus Community finds — over The Deal Firehose: Hot · New · Top, with a Today–All-time range on Top, community finds interleaved and marked as the different thing they are, a Submit-a-deal row, and one SPONSORED slot standing in for paid placement. Then the happening-now event digest and today's dailies. It's a 50-deal cut across those 15 stores, not the 3,953-offer catalog corpus. The forum and leaderboards live on the Community page, reached from Account.
Deep links everywhere — ?store=, ?deal=, ?event=, ?view=stores&collection= all restore full pages; browser back/forward work everywhere, and the retired v1 grammars redirect.
Shared spine — Stores.com account, cross-store cart, membership, and Stores.com Cash work identically in every store. Front end only: it pins the UI down so the dev team can spec the backend against something concrete.

Every deal, price, photo and write-up in a store is real production data, built July 29, 2026: the classics from their own catalogs — including today’s Meh daily, its write-up and its MehFace — and each outlet store from a slate curated out of the MorningSave (2016–2026), SideDeal (2018–2026) and Meh archives, where an offer joins a brand only when every item in it is that brand. Outlet event names and dates are composed to match the real event patterns; the offers, prices and photos inside them ran as shown. Two exceptions: the Deals tab still runs on cards scraped July 10, 2026, and Big Lots — the one classic with no catalog — shows those same scraped closeouts, with no write-up rather than a generated one. Store theming — every color and both faces, in all 131 stores — is read from production siteContext; the Deal of the Day and the discovery-page language come from Matt's Stores.com Outlets web prototype. Votes, comments, community finds, and the Meh poll are illustrative.
